While doing my laundry today, I was witness to some true hateful hostility. Here is how it played out:

A man wanted to use a bin and approached a woman around the bins.

Man: Excuse me, are you using this?
Woman: WHAT??
Man: I was just wondering if you were using this.
Woman: STOP bothering me, i don't CARE.
Man: I was just trying to be polite

He walks away with obvious disgust, shaking his head wondering why being polite should illicitness an attitude like that. At this point I am smiling, completely amused that someone could be so, well, YUCKY.

Then the woman proceeds to say, "why the fuck is everyone so happy?" Then left with a humph.

I told the man that he shouldn't be discouraged and to continue to be nice to people, even if some react like assholes.

To the man: he made me smile! And it makes me happy when others are happy. Some people just really need to chill out and not take laundry or life too seriously.

My horoscope for today:

Although you may be able to withhold your feelings throughout the day, the pressure builds like a volcano until you are ready to erupt. Losing your temper might not be a pretty sight and you could inadvertently upset someone you love. It's better to let off steam little by little throughout the day than waiting to reach the point of no return.

PRETTY accurate i suppose.

This is sad but true. Most people all of a sudden love someone when they have died (ie. Michael Jackson). Even if they hated him while he was alive, they celebrate his life in death. That's bogus. Hypocritism at it's fullest.

YES! The day everyone has been waiting for...I'm going to sell all of my fine art Reenatypes for a crazy low price. I have several unframed, all original C-prints that need some love.

It's the ultimate recession special, especially if your walls are stark white and screaming for some imaginative quality. Check out my various reenatypes in all colors and sizes to see if you like anything.

I'll be doing inventory and posting sizes and prices for everything. They will all be a little different, even if it's the same image...the glory of originality.

Stay tuned..

Here are the results of the photos of me by the students at the International Center of Photography. It's so interesting to see the same setup and model yielding such different styles in post production. I think i would make a very harsh teacher. Any comments here?

I don't know any of the students' names, but the files were labeled by initials. I think i look pretty silly. ;)

This is by FB:

This is by KW. She did gave me some very bizarre direction. Example, handing me a loaf of bread and telling me to sell it. Then she started reaching into to her bag to find anything for me to sell. I'm not putting the leather beige jacket photo up, just too ridiculous.

This shot was actually my idea (big surprise) and someone else was shooting it when she took a shot, guess she ran out of things for me to "sell".

I finally got a new camera, the next step up in my ghetto photo career, a digital SLR! A Canon XT1, born to a proud mommy, Reena, on June 19, 2009. Both are doing just great!

Canon just came out with this camera, which also shoots HD video! It's a beautiful, lightweight camera and my lenses fit from my 35mm outfit, so I'm extra excited. Also picked up a new Speedlite to get some great lighting going. Time to set up shop and start putting my degree to work.

This was the first photo taken with my new camera. Incidentally, it's my favorite model, MONKEE!

More photos to come...LOTS

I love all kinds of art including dance and performance, so when Max called me up and told me that him and Adam were taking me to the ballet, i was ecstatic! Adam teaches ballet and is almost at the end of his masters program, so I knew I had to be ready for some serious new information.

We arrive at Lincoln Center after having a great early dinner at Taim in the west village. There are well dressed people everywhere, getting ready to watch the newest production at the American Ballet Theater and I was getting more and more excited. This was so much better than So you think you can dance!

It was a great selection for my first experience because there were 3 different ballets in one, with an intermission between each. It was the premiere night and I felt very privileged to be able to witness art being formed right in front of me. The three ballets we saw were: Prodigal Son, Desir, and On the Dnieper, all with different styles, stories, and costumes. For someone like me that likes a little bit of everything, this was the perfect variety pack I was looking for.

Throughout the first performance, I don't think my mouth closed once. I couldn't believe that in my whole life, I have never gone to the ballet. Having lived in NYC my whole life, I was privileged to different shows, theater productions, and all kinds of expressive performance art. The ballet is something new, something I have just seen in movies or shows. Nothing can prepare you for how amazing this well crafted artistry is in person.

Adam was so full of knowledge and I was so happy to soak it all up. Next up: SWAN LAKE!!!

I knew about Adam long before I even met him, he is Max's boyfriend of 5 years. Max always spoke very highly of Adam, but I was not convinced until I met him. He has a great animated personality with a great self confidence about him which is refreshing to see.

video (my first home made video ever)

I mostly appreciate people that have intelligence, knowledge and passion. Adam's passion is ballet, he happens to be highly skilled at critiquing, teaching and speaking of ballet. There is that long debate over whether you would rather know everything about something, or a little bit about everything. Adam is the person who knows everything about something, where as I am the one who knows a little bit about everything. Max is just plain old smart about everything.
